Common questions

Start here — these cover most of what comes in.

I'm not getting the evening reminder

If you're on a version before 1.6.0, update. Some devices never finished registering for notifications, so the reminder had nowhere to be delivered. That's fixed in 1.6.0.

After updating, open Settings → Notification Preferences. If you see "This device isn't registered", tap Fix. If you see "Device notifications are off", tap Allow.

Also worth checking: if your frequency is set to "Only when watering needed", you'll hear nothing on days your lawn is fine — that's working as intended.

It says don't water, but my lawn looks dry

Often that's the app doing its job — letting soil dry toward its trigger is what drives roots deeper, so it will tell you to wait. Tap Why this recommendation? to see the actual numbers behind the call.

But if it's genuinely wrong, the usual cause is rain the app thinks fell on you and didn't. See the next question.

It rained here (or didn't) and the app has it wrong

Weather data comes from a grid that's several miles across. A summer storm can soak your street and miss the station entirely — no forecast source can fix that.

So you can correct it. On My Lawn, tap the rain row, pick any day, and record what actually happened: nothing, light, steady, heavy, or an exact rain-gauge reading. Your moisture number recalculates immediately. It's free — no subscription needed.

My front and back yards are different

Set them up as separate zones — each gets its own daily answer. During setup, choose "Save and add another zone" at the last step. If you're already past that, go to Settings → Zones → Add New Zone.

Do I need an account?

Not on iPhone or Android — tap "Continue as guest" and you're in. No email, no password. Your lawn lives on that device, so add an account whenever you want it backed up or synced to a second phone; everything you've set up carries over.

The web app does need an account. Browser storage gets cleared far too easily, and losing your watering history to a routine cache clear would be worse than the sign-up.

What do I get with Pro, and do I need it?

You don't need it. The full moisture model, your daily answer, evening reminders, the widget, the 14-day trend, and rain correction are all free and always will be.

Pro adds Sage — an AI groundskeeper that reads your live lawn data and answers questions about your lawn specifically — plus multi-model ensemble forecasts and Apple Weather as a data source. $2.99/month or $19.99/year, with a 7-day free trial.

How do I cancel Pro?

Subscriptions are managed by the store, not by me, so cancelling goes through them. On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. On Android: Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.

How do I delete my account and data?

In the app: Settings → Delete Account. That removes your household, zones, watering logs and rain corrections. It can't be undone. If you can't get into the app, use the form below and I'll do it manually.

Report a bug or request a feature

This goes straight to me. If you leave an email I'll reply; if you don't, I'll still read it.

The more specific the better — "the reminder never arrives" told me more than you'd think.
